SeatGuru: Flight Seat Maps Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Music AI Studio Ltd ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the SeatGuru: Flight Seat Maps app for iPhone (the "App"). We are the data controller for personal data processed through the App. If you have any questions, email us at info@musicaistudio.app.
In short: the App has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and we don't track you. Boarding passes and pictures you scan are read on your iPhone and never uploaded. When you look up a flight, its number and date are sent to the flight-data service that answers, never to our own servers. The flights and favourites you save stay on your iPhone. If you buy SeatGuru Pro, our subscription service receives the purchase records Apple sends, tied to a random ID, not to you.
1. What stays on your device
The flights you save or scan (flight number, date, airports and seat) and your favourite airlines and aircraft are stored only on your iPhone. None of this is sent to us. Deleting the App deletes it.
The seat maps and seat scores come with the App and are worked out on your iPhone.
2. Scanning a boarding pass
You can scan a boarding pass with the camera, or choose a photo, screenshot or PDF of one. The App reads the barcode, or the text of a booking confirmation, on your iPhone using Apple's on-device text and barcode recognition. Nothing you scan is uploaded. From a boarding pass the App keeps only the flight number, date, airports and seat; it reads past your name and booking reference and does not store them. The picture itself is not kept.
3. Looking up a flight
When you look up a flight, or open a saved one, the App sends the flight number and date to AeroDataBox, a flight-data service, through RapidAPI (RapidAPI, Inc., USA), which answers with the route, times and the aircraft. If the answer includes a photo of the aircraft, the App loads it from the address the service gives. These requests include no name, account or identifier of yours; like any internet request they carry your device's IP address. The services handle the requests under their own privacy policies.
4. Purchases and app settings
SeatGuru Pro is sold through the App Store, and Apple processes the payment. We never see your payment card or Apple ID details. So the App knows what you've unlocked, our subscription service (run by us on Google Cloud) receives a random ID created for the App when it is installed, the purchase records Apple sends for that ID (product, price, currency, country, dates, trial and renewal status), and your device model, iOS version, App version and language. The same service sends the App a few settings we can change without an update, such as how many free flight lookups there are. None of this is linked to your name, email or any other identity.
5. Permissions
The App asks only when a feature needs it:
- Camera: to scan a boarding pass's barcode, as described in section 2. The camera image is not stored or uploaded.
- Photos: the App uses the iOS photo picker, so it only ever receives the picture you choose to scan.
- Files: the App only receives the file you choose to scan.
6. Analytics, ads and tracking
The App shows no ads and contains no advertising or analytics software. It does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't sell or share your personal data. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with us, under Apple's privacy policy.
7. International transfers
Flight lookups are processed by RapidAPI and AeroDataBox, and purchases by our subscription service, outside the UK and EU, including in the United States. Where data about people in the UK or EU is transferred there, it is protected by safeguards the law recognises, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum.
8. How long we keep it
The only data from the App on our own servers is the purchase records in section 4, kept while your subscription is active and afterwards for as long as we need them to handle refunds, disputes and our legal and tax obligations. What is on your device stays until you delete it or the App; the answers to recent lookups are only held in memory while the App is open. The flight-data services keep request logs under their own policies.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under UK and EU data protection law and US state privacy laws, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict how it's used, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because the App keeps your flights and favourites on your iPhone, you can delete them there at any time. For purchase records, tell us the purchase you mean (a receipt from Apple helps) and email info@musicaistudio.app. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
10. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
