Cutie Maps Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Music AI Studio Ltd ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the Cutie Maps app for iPhone and CarPlay (the "App"). We are the data controller for personal data processed through the App. If you have any questions, email us at info@musicaistudio.app.
In short: the App has no accounts and shows you no ads. Your location is used to show the map, find places and guide you, and is sent to the map and weather services that do that work, never to our own servers. What you save and design in the App stays on your iPhone. If you allow it, the App tells Meta which of our ads brought you here and what you did in the App afterwards, so we can measure the ads we run for it — section 6 says exactly what that is, and you can say no.
1. What stays on your device
Your map theme, navigation voice and other settings, your saved and recent places, the CarPlay widgets you design and the photos you add to them are stored only on your iPhone, in storage shared with the App's widgets so they can show in CarPlay. None of this is sent to us. Deleting the App deletes it.
The navigation voices are recordings that come with the App, and spoken directions are made on your iPhone. The App doesn't use your microphone.
2. Your location
With your permission, the App uses your device's location while you're using it: to show where you are on the map, find places near you, plan routes and give turn-by-turn directions, and to show the weather on your widgets. While you're following directions, guidance carries on when the App is in the background or your screen is locked, and iOS shows that the App is using your location. The App doesn't use your location when you aren't using it or driving with it.
Your location, what you search for and the places you get directions to are sent to the services in section 3, which need them to answer. We don't receive or store your location or your searches on our own servers.
3. Services the App uses
- Mapbox (Mapbox, Inc., USA) provides the map, place search, routes and navigation. It receives your location, your searches and your destinations to provide them. Mapbox's software in the App also collects telemetry: location, usage and performance data tied to a random identifier that isn't linked to your identity. Mapbox uses it to run and improve its maps and traffic data. You can turn this off at any time from the ⓘ button in the corner of the map (Mapbox Telemetry). See Mapbox's privacy policy.
- Apple Weather (WeatherKit) provides the weather on your widgets. It receives the location the weather is for. See Apple's privacy policy.
- Meta (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd for people in the UK and EU, Meta Platforms, Inc. elsewhere) measures the ads we run for the App on Facebook and Instagram. Its measurement software in the App sends the events in section 6, with an identifier for your device or for your installation of the App. It shows no ads inside the App. See Meta's privacy policy.
- Apple processes purchases (section 4) and runs CarPlay, which shows the App on your car's screen.
These providers handle the data under their own privacy policies.
4. Purchases
Subscriptions and other in-app purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment card or Apple ID details. So the App knows what you've unlocked, our subscription service (run by us on Google Cloud) receives a random ID created for the App when it is installed, the purchase records Apple sends for that ID (product, price, currency, country, dates, trial and renewal status), and your device model, iOS version, App version and language. This isn't linked to your name, email or any other identity.
So that a purchase can be matched to the ad that led to it, that service also receives the identifiers in section 6 — your device's advertising identifier when you have allowed tracking, the vendor identifier iOS gives this App, the identifier Meta's software creates for your installation, and your answer to the tracking prompt — and may pass Meta the fact that a trial, purchase or renewal happened with its product, price and currency. It never passes on what you searched for, where you drove or what you designed.
5. Permissions
The App asks only when a feature needs it:
- Location (While Using the App): for the map, nearby places, directions and weather, as described in section 2.
- Photos: the App uses the iOS photo picker, so it only ever receives the pictures you choose for a widget. They're stored on your device, never sent to us.
- Tracking: iOS asks once whether the App may track you across other companies' apps and websites. Say yes and the events in section 6 carry your device's advertising identifier; say no and they don't. Everything in the App works the same either way, and you can change your answer whenever you like in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
6. Analytics, ads and tracking
The App shows you no ads and has no analytics software of our own. It does contain Meta's measurement software, which is there for one thing: telling us which of the ads we run for Cutie Maps actually brought someone to it, so we don't keep paying to show them to people who don't want them.
What it sends Meta: that the App was opened, that onboarding was finished, that a search was made (including the words searched), that a place was opened (its name and category), that a drive was started, that the paywall was opened, and that a trial, purchase or restore happened, with the plan, price and currency. It does not send your location, your routes, your saved places, your widgets, your photos or your name.
With your permission (section 5), those events carry your device's advertising identifier, which is what lets Meta match them to an ad you were shown. Without it they carry only an identifier Meta's software creates for your installation of the App, and Apple's own SKAdNetwork tells Meta whether an ad worked without identifying you. We don't sell your personal data, and we share it for advertising only in this measurement. Mapbox's telemetry (section 3) is separate, and you can turn it off.
7. International transfers
Mapbox, Meta and our subscription service process data in the United States. Where data about people in the UK or EU is transferred there, it is protected by safeguards the law recognises, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum.
8. How long we keep it
What is on your device stays until you delete it or the App. Purchase records are kept while your subscription is active and afterwards for as long as we need them to handle refunds, disputes and our legal and tax obligations. We don't keep the advertising events of section 6 ourselves. Mapbox, Meta and Apple keep what they receive under their own policies.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under UK and EU data protection law and US state privacy laws, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict how it's used, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To use these rights, email info@musicaistudio.app. Because the App has no accounts, tell us the purchase you mean (a receipt from Apple helps) so we can find its records. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
10. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
